Tasks

As an innovation leader in the automotive industry, Mercedes-Benz AG's "Future Digital Engineering" department in Sindelfingen focuses on the development of lightweight and optimized structural components using cutting-edge computing methods. The international team works at the interface between research and practice in order to improve the performance of series vehicles through lightweight design and efficient structural solutions. Central to this is the use of the finite element method for comprehensive structural analyses and simulations under a wide range of loads.

These are your challenges:

  • Development of scripts for FE calculations in Python or MATLAB-
  • Carrying out FE calculations
  • Quasi-static and dynamic analyses
  • Creation and integration of extended manufacturing boundary conditions
  • Familiarization with FE models and improvement of model quality

The activity can begin from March 2026.

Qualifications

  • Studies in the field of Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Civil Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Simulation Technology, Mathematics, or a comparable field of study (a completed Bachelor's degree is desirable, but not mandatory)
  • First experience with FE calculations in Optistruct, LS-Dyna or similar
  • Very good language skills in German or English
  • Personal skills such as initiative, ability to work in a team and a structured and independent way of working
