We are looking for a
Student Research Assistant - Open-Source Experimental Design Platform Development (gn)
part-time (20 hours per week), to start as soon as possible. The contract is for three months.
Your tasks
- Build a platform integrations between Designate and external platforms (e.g., Qualtrics, Bluesky, Mastodon, etc)—including authentication, API calls, and error handling
- Create comprehensive documentation including step-by-step setup guides, code examples, and/or video tutorials that enable other researchers to use the platform
- Design and run experimental prototypes to test the integration, developing automated tests and troubleshooting workflows
- Contribute to open-source codebase with version-controlled, well-documented code
- Collaborate with international research team on software development for social science experimentation
Your profile
- Enrolled student at a German university
- Python programming skills (experience with FastAPI, async code, and modern Python 3.8+)
- Understanding of API development and RESTful services
- Familiarity with Git/GitHub version control and Docker containerization
- Technical writing ability to create clear documentation for researchers
- Self-motivated and comfortable working independently on software development tasks
- Desirable but not required: PostgreSQL/SQL experience, social media API knowledge, understanding of experimental design methods
