Staff Software Engineer, Data Lineage

In this role, you will work with the Dataplex Lineage team, which develops APIs, UIs, and job log processing to track and visualize transformations between GCP data assets. The derived lineage graph is a key enabler for data professionals to debug issues in data processing pipelines, govern AI model training, forecast the impact of changes, and manage data compliance. Additionally, the team develops agentic experiences to redefine how GCP users govern their data and jobs, while collaborating closely with open-source communities.

Responsibilities

• Work with Product Management and Leadership to define and influence product outlook and strategy, lay out a technical path to achieve it.
• Plan and oversee the technical initiatives.
• Support and grow technical talent on the team.
• Coordinate and align with other technical leaders in the organization.
• Identify, pitch, and nurture new opportunities to use technology to help our customers achieve their goals and differentiate Google Cloud platform.

Minimum qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 8 years of experience in software development.

Preferred qualifications:

• Experience with system design and API development.
• Experience with designing, developing, and validating Generative AI applications.
• Experience with development on Cloud platforms.
• Knowledge of data governance and data lineage topics.
• Excellent communication skills.
