As a Software Engineer on the Google Compute Engine (GCE) Sole Tenancy team, you will design, build, and maintain the distributed systems responsible for allocating and managing dedicated physical hardware for our cloud customers. You will write scalable back-end code, help design new features that expand sole-tenant node capabilities, and ensure our systems remain highly available and reliable. You will have an opportunity to dive deep into Google's infrastructure, working alongside with experienced engineers to solve complex resource management problems at a massive scale.

Responsibilities

• Write product or system development code.
• Review code developed by other developers and provide feedback to ensure best practices (e.g., style guidelines, checking code in, accuracy, testability, and efficiency).
• Contribute to existing documentation or educational content and adapt content based on product/program updates and user feedback.
• Triage product or system issues and debug/track/resolve by analyzing the sources of issues and the impact on hardware, network, or service operations and quality.

Minimum qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 1 year of experience with software development in one or more programming languages (e.g., Python, C, C++, Java, JavaScript).
• 1 year of experience with data structures and algorithms.

Preferred qualifications:

• Experience building or managing distributed systems, networking, or large-scale cloud infrastructure.
• Familiarity with virtualization technologies, hypervisors, or hardware-software interactions.
• Understanding of computer science fundamentals, including data structures, algorithms, and software design principles.
• Excellent investigative and problem-solving skills with the ability to learn and adapt to complex, evolving systems.
