OT Architect

The OT Architect will lead the design, integration, and governance of Operational Technology (OT) systems across a modern utilities environment. This role focuses on secure SCADA, telemetry, and industrial automation platforms, ensuring seamless interoperability with enterprise IT, ERP, and cloud ecosystems. The architect will shape digital transformation initiatives, strengthen Critical National Infrastructure (CNI) resilience, and guide stakeholders through complex OT/IT convergence challenges.Responsibilities:OT Architecture & Systems IntegrationDesign and maintain end‑to‑end OT architectures covering SCADA, RTUs/PLCs, telemetry, historian platforms, and field communications.Develop integration patterns between OT systems and enterprise IT/ERP platforms (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Maximo, GIS, asset management).Define secure data flows between plants, control rooms, corporate networks, and cloud services.Lead the adoption of IIoT technologies, edge computing, and modern data architectures for real‑time operational insight.Cybersecurity & ComplianceEmbeded ISA/IEC 62443, NIS2, and UK CNI security principles into OT designs.Conduct risk assessments, threat modelling, and architecture reviews across OT environments.Collaborate with cybersecurity teams to implement segmentation, zero‑trust principles, and secure remote access for OT assets.SCADA & Utilities OperationsProvide architectural leadership for SCADA upgrades, control system migrations, and telemetry modernisation programmes.Work closely with control room, operations, and engineering teams to ensure system reliability, availability, and regulatory compliance.Support lifecycle planning for OT assets, including vendor selection, obsolescence management, and technology roadmapping.Stakeholder Engagement & Technical LeadershipAct as a trusted advisor to senior leadership, engineering managers, and IT/OT programme teams.Translate operational requirements into scalable, secure, and compliant architectures.Lead workshops, produce high‑quality technical documentation, and guide delivery partners and system integrators.Support procurement, contract reviews, and vendor governance for OT and IIoT solutions.Experience:Deep experience in OT/IT convergence within utilities, energy, water, or industrial automation.Strong knowledge of SCADA systems, data acquisition networks, industrial protocols (DNP3, IEC 60870‑5‑104, Modbus, OPC UA).Proven track record integrating OT platforms with IT/ERP systems and enterprise data architectures.Expertise in secure IIoT deployments, edge gateways, and industrial networking.Strong understanding of regulatory frameworks: ISA/IEC 62443, NIS/NIS2, UK CNI guidance.Ability to lead multi‑disciplinary teams and influence stakeholders at all levels.Strategic thinker with the ability to balance operational realities and long‑term architectural vision.Strong communicator who can bridge engineering, IT, and business domains.Analytical, structured, and comfortable working in regulated, safety‑critical environmentsNice to have:Experience with cloud‑based OT data ingestion (Azure IoT, AWS IoT, or equivalent).Familiarity with asset management, work management, and GIS platforms.Background in engineering, automation, or control systems.Vendor ecosystem knowledge (e.g., Schneider, Siemens, ABB, Copa‑DATA, AVEVA, GE).What we offer:Flexible forms of employment and working hours An interesting, challenging job in the dynamically developing Capital Group companyWork on innovative projects using modern technologiesDirect impact on shaping the image of the Capital Group's companies on the marketPossibility to develop competences in a wide rangeAttractive salaryCool benefits, among others integration meetings, internal company competitions, fruit Tuesdays, sweet Thursdays and much more
