emagine is looking for a Lead AWS engineer specialized in Global Edge infrastructure to strengthen and evolve our clients public-facing platform serving millions of users worldwide.Start: ASAP or within 1 monthDuration: 6 months but extension possibleLocation: Stockholm, 2-3 days onsite requiredAbout the assignmentThis role requires deep hands-on expertise in designing, operating, and securing large-scale internet-facing infrastructure on AWS, where performance, resilience, and cyber security are business-critical. The consultant will play a key role in standardizing and scaling edge architecture, ensuring high availability during extreme traffic peaks, and protecting services from security threats at global scale.This is not a general backend or observability role. The focus is production-grade Global Edge delivery and protection of high-traffic web platforms.Core ResponsibilitiesDesign, implement, and operate global edge architecture using AWS servicesOwn and optimize CloudFront distributions for high-traffic, latency-sensitive web applicationsDesign and manage AWS WAF security controls, including rule development, tuning, and threat mitigationBuild and maintain infrastructure using AWS Cloud Development Kit (CDK) in TypeScriptImprove platform resilience, scalability, and performance across global regionsImplement protections against large-scale attacks (e.g. DDoS, traffic spikes, abusive patterns)Analyze traffic behavior and continuously optimize caching, routing, and security policiesContribute to standardization and automation of global public infrastructureCollaborate closely with engineering teams to support secure and performant delivery of web applicationsRequired Expertise (Must Have)Global Edge Infrastructure (Deep Hands-On)Proven ownership of large-scale public web infrastructure running globallyExperience operating platforms with very high traffic volumes and strict uptime requirementsDemonstrated work with performance optimization, resilience engineering, and traffic surge handlingReal production experience managing security events at the edgeAWS Edge ServicesExpert-level experience with CloudFront in production environmentsDistribution design and optimizationCaching strategies and origin architecturePerformance tuning and troubleshootingExpert-level experience with AWS WAFRule design and lifecycle managementThreat detection and mitigationSecurity hardening for internet-facing servicesInfrastructure as Code & EngineeringStrong hands-on experience with AWS CDKTypeScript as primary engineering languageAbility to design and maintain infrastructure programmatically at scaleProduction OwnershipExperience running mission-critical services where edge infrastructure directly impacts business outcomesExperience supporting major traffic events (e.g. campaigns, peak seasons, global launches)Strong operational mindset with incident handling and continuous improvementHighly Valuable ExperienceOperating high-volume commercial or consumer-facing web platformsEdge performance engineering and latency optimizationAdvanced caching strategies and origin shieldingSecurity engineering at CDN / edge layerAutomation and standardization of public infrastructure at scaleProfile CharacteristicsDeep specialist rather than generalist cloud engineerStrong engineering mindset with real production accountabilityComfortable working in highly mature technical environments with expert peersAble to operate independently in complex global infrastructure landscapes
