Senior IT Project Manager

B2B contract | Hybrid work – Gdańsk, Gdynia, or Warsaw | 3 days per week from the office |For one of our clients in the financial services sector, we are looking for an experienced Senior IT Project Manager to lead a strategic vendor transition and platform migration initiative within a large-scale Big Data environment. You will take end-to-end ownership of project delivery, coordinating technical and business teams while managing timelines, budget, risks, dependencies, and senior stakeholders. Previous experience leading a large-scale Hadoop or Cloudera migration or vendor replacement initiative is essential for this role.

Responsibilities:

Lead and coordinate a strategic vendor transition and platform migration project within a complex Big Data environment

• Take end-to-end ownership of project planning, execution, monitoring, and delivery
• Manage project timelines, milestones, dependencies, resources, and delivery commitmentsOwn project budget management, financial planning, and forecasting
• Identify, assess, and proactively manage project risks, issues, and dependencies
• Ensure timely escalation and resolution of critical project challenges
• Coordinate collaboration between technical teams, business stakeholders, vendors, and other project participants
• Track project progress and provide clear reporting to senior stakeholders and governance bodies
• Prepare and present project status updates, management reports, and Steering Committee materials
• Facilitate project meetings and ensure clear ownership of actions and deliverables
• Manage vendor relationships and coordinate activities throughout the transition process
• Drive structured project governance and support predictable, high-quality delivery
• Must-have requirements:

Proven experience as a Senior IT Project Manager leading complex technology transformation projects

• Hands-on project management experience with a large-scale Hadoop and/or Cloudera platform migration or vendor replacement
• Strong understanding of Big Data platforms and related technology environments
• Experience managing complex vendor transitions and vendor relationships
• Strong project planning, coordination, and end-to-end delivery management skills
• Hands-on experience with budget management, financial planning, and forecasting
• Strong risk and issue management capabilities
• Excellent stakeholder management skills, including experience working with senior and executive-level stakeholders
• Experience preparing and presenting materials for Steering Committees and governance bodies
• Strong analytical skills and the ability to translate complex information into clear, actionable insights
• Excellent communication, facilitation, and presentation skills
• Previous project delivery experience within banking or financial services
• Native-level Polish and professional proficiency in English
• Nice to have:

Experience managing large-scale data platform transformation or modernization initiatives

• Experience coordinating multiple technical teams, vendors, and business stakeholders within complex enterprise environments
• Strong understanding of platform migration dependencies, risks, and transition planning
• Experience working within highly regulated organizations
• Experience managing strategic technology programs with high visibility at senior management level
