• About the project
• For our client, who is delivering a long-term project in the data & analytics area, we are looking for an experienced Senior Data Engineer / Data Engineering Lead.

You will join a team focused on Business Intelligence and reporting, where you will act as the main technical expert in data engineering. We are looking for someone who can take ownership of the data engineering area, identify technical risks and gaps, and proactively suggest improvements.

At the beginning, you will receive full support, including a clear overview of the current setup, access to the necessary documentation, and a proper onboarding into the team. Once you are up to speed, we expect you to work independently, ask the right questions, challenge existing solutions, and help the team identify things that may be missing.

What you'll doTake technical ownership of the data engineering area.

Build and improve data pipelines, transformations, and data models.

Analyse existing solutions and identify technical gaps, risks, and improvement opportunities.

Troubleshoot issues end to end — from source systems to the reporting layer.

Collaborate with Power BI Developers, architects, and stakeholders.

Provide technical guidance to BI developers and help the team make better technical decisions.

Ensure the quality, stability, and continuous improvement of the data environment.

Requirements

Several years of experience in data engineering, including strong practical knowledge of SQL and data modelling.

Hands-on experience with Python or a similar programming language.

Experience with Azure Data Services, Azure Data Factory (ADF), and/or Airflow.

Good understanding of Power BI and reporting environments.

Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills across different layers of a data solution.

Ability to work independently and take ownership.

Proactive mindset and willingness to challenge existing solutions.

Strong communication and collaboration skills.

What do we mean by “Lead”?

You will not manage a separate data engineering team. You will be a hands-on Data Engineer within a BI-focused team, bringing your expertise, taking ownership of the data engineering area, and helping the team make better technical decisions.
