Legal Counsel (m/w/d)

Tasks

• Providing of legal support and guidance to the relevant business units in the areas of real estate, permitting, construction and general service contracts
• Supporting the Business in looking to acquire new projects or enter into new partnerships with developers. This would typically include discussions on the optimal contractual structure, provision of guidance as necessary in the collation of the relevant due diligence information from the various business units, contract drafting/negotiation and completion
• Keeping abreast of regulatory developments that impact upon the Business
• Ensuring that any revenue contracts or related energy trading contracts are compliant with applicable financial reporting regulations
• Reporting to the Head of Legal for Perigus Energy Europe and other internal stakeholders as necessary
• Managing of external legal resourcing and external legal spend for the German Business
• Assisting with a range of other contracts and legal issues that arise across the Business including NDAs, corporate legal queries (and advising on appropriate resourcing solution for company secretarial services in Germany as necessary), dispute management.
• Being embedded within the Business and in a position to advise on the priority matters (both in terms of value and risk) arising from time to time
• Integrated in parallel with the wider legal function and being in a position to report up as appropriate across projects and compliance related matters
• Develop good relationships with key stakeholders - both internal key contacts and external legal suppliers
• Be in a position to report on legal spend for Germany and advise on ways to optimise efficiency, reduce legal spend where possible and holding external legal suppliers accountable

Profile

• German qualified lawyer with at least 5 years post qualification experience, preferably in a similar legal in-house corporate environment or in a corporate law firm
• Strong academic credentials
• Good interpersonal and organisational skills as well as an ability to take on leadership roles both internally with staff and in the context of managing external stakeholders
• Fluent in English and German
• Experience of managing commercial contracts necessary
• Experience in the fields of energy, real estate, regulatory compliance, corporate an advantage but not essential.
