Lead Engineer / Senior Power BI Developer

We're looking for a Senior Power BI Developer / Lead Engineer to join our Data Analytics team, working on a long-term engagement for an insurance & warranty services client. You'll take ownership of BI solution design, development and delivery, working closely with a business-side stakeholder on the client side.

Working hours until 18:00 at minimum.

Responsibilities:

Design, build and maintain Power BI semantic models (star schema, RLS, naming conventions, documentation) for business reporting.

Implement business logic and metrics primarily in SQL, following the client's technical standards for where logic should live (SQL vs. Power BI layer).

Take ownership of reporting requirements gathering directly with a business stakeholder, translating needs into scalable, maintainable BI solutions.

Proactively communicate delivery status, risks and technical decisions — including when the primary client contact is unavailable.

Operate with a high degree of autonomy on the visualization/frontend layer, while maintaining strict adherence to agreed data/backend standards.

Contribute to CI/CD and deployment practices for BI assets (Azure DevOps).

What we are looking for:

Strong hands-on experience with Power BI (DAX, Power Query/M) and advanced SQL.

Experience designing semantic models, implementing row-level security and governance standards.

Familiarity with Microsoft Fabric and/or Azure (Azure SQL, Azure DevOps/CI-CD) is a strong plus.

Comfortable working in shifted/afternoon hours aligned with the client's team.

Excellent stakeholder communication skills — able to work independently with a business-side client contact, ask clarifying questions, and flag issues early rather than after the fact.
