Senior Software Engineer – AI & Temporal

We are looking for an experienced Senior Software Engineer who combines strong software engineering fundamentals with hands-on experience in AI-assisted development and workflow orchestration.

This role is designed for engineers who don't just occasionally use AI tools, but have made them a real part of their development workflow – using AI to write, understand, refactor, test and debug software faster and more effectively.

You will join a team building a modern internal platform for a large telecommunications service provider, with Temporal and AI-first development at the heart of the project.

What we doWe are building an internal platform that streamlines network service management and service delivery processes.

The platform exposes APIs and uses Temporal workflows to orchestrate complex and asynchronous processes across distributed systems. Reliability, scalability and observability are important parts of the solution, supported by technologies such as OpenTelemetry, Grafana and Prometheus.

At the same time, we are actively developing an AI-first engineering environment, where AI tools are treated as part of the everyday software development process rather than an occasional productivity add-on.

Your Responsibilities

Design and develop scalable backend systems and services.

Build and maintain Temporal workflows and activities supporting complex business processes.

Design resilient solutions for long-running and asynchronous processes.

Work with distributed systems, including retries, failures, timeouts and communication between services.

Design and optimize REST APIs and system integrations.

Use AI coding tools extensively throughout the software development lifecycle – from understanding requirements and designing solutions to coding, testing, refactoring and debugging.

Build codebases and documentation that are easy for both engineers and AI tools to understand and modify.

Create detailed specifications, prompts, reusable AI workflows, skills and development practices.

Experiment with different AI models and tools to identify the best approach for specific engineering tasks.

Share AI development practices and reusable solutions across the engineering team.

Troubleshoot and debug complex issues across service boundaries.

Our Requirements6+ years of commercial experience in Software Engineering / Backend Development.

Hands-on experience with Temporal or similar workflow orchestration technologies such as Cadence.

Strong understanding of workflow orchestration concepts, asynchronous processing and long-running processes.

Strong experience with AI-assisted software development and tools such as Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Cursor or similar.

Ability to demonstrate concrete examples of how AI has improved your software development workflow and productivity.

Understanding of different AI models, their capabilities, limitations and appropriate use cases.

Strong backend software engineering fundamentals.

Experience designing and implementing REST APIs.

Experience with distributed systems, microservices and asynchronous architectures.

Strong debugging and problem-solving skills across distributed environments.

Experience with Docker and container-based development workflows.

Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively within a cross-functional engineering team.

Nice to have

Commercial experience with Golang.

Experience with other backend technologies such as Java, Python, C#/.

NET or TypeScript.

Experience building AI agents, reusable prompts, skills or automated AI development workflows.

Experience with OpenTelemetry, Grafana or Prometheus.

Knowledge of OpenAPI / Swagger standards.

Experience with AWS, GCP or Azure.

Experience with Kubernetes.

Experience with Infrastructure as Code and CI/CD pipelines.

Understanding of networking protocols and service mesh technologies.

Experience in the telecommunications domain.
