As a Senior Platform Engineer, you will be a practitioner and advocate of state-of-the-art cloud engineering practices, with a strong DevSecOps mindset. You will work across the full software development lifecycle, from designing and building solutions to testing, deployment and operation.

You will be part of a cross-functional team providing a platform across multiple domains, taking ownership of the platform from design through to operation. The role has a strong focus on AWS, Terraform, web security, WAF, CDN and modern internet security, including evolving threats related to bots, scrapers and AI-driven activity.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, operate and continuously improve highly available, distributed cloud platforms and services.
  • Take end-to-end ownership of the platform across design, build, testing, deployment and operation.
  • Build and maintain scalable solutions in AWS using Terraform, infrastructure-as-code and DevSecOps practices.
  • Support and develop web security and content delivery capabilities, including WAF and CDN solutions.
  • Continuously improve CI/CD pipelines, automation, engineering workflows and self-service capabilities for platform consumers.
  • Ensure operational readiness, observability, security, documentation and overall platform quality.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams across different domains to evaluate new technologies, tools and approaches and support their effective adoption.

Qualifications

  • Strong experience with highly available, distributed systems and services in cloud environments.
  • Strong knowledge of AWS, including an understanding of overall AWS architecture and services used to build and operate scalable platforms.
  • Hands-on experience with Terraform and infrastructure-as-code.
  • Strong understanding of WAF, CDN and web security concepts, including DDoS mitigation, vulnerability management and scanning.
  • Good understanding of modern internet technologies and protocols, including SSL/TLS, HTTPS, HTTP headers and DNS.
  • Good understanding of current internet security threats, including bots and scrapers, and how these affect production web platforms.
  • Ability to understand, read and review code, particularly in languages such as Python and Go, and effectively use AI-assisted development tools to support coding activities.

Nice to have

  • Experience with cloud-based content delivery and security platforms such as Akamai, Cloudflare or AWS-based solutions.
  • Hands-on development experience with Python or Go.
  • Experience with AWS services such as Lambda and API Gateway.
  • Experience with GitLab CI and CI/CD automation.
  • Experience building self-service capabilities for platform consumers.
  • Experience contributing to engineering Communities of Practice or cross-team technical initiatives.
