Audio Visual Level 2 Engineer (Short-term contract)

About the role

Our client is looking for an AV Break-fix Engineer (L2) to provide AV and video conferencing support across all meeting rooms and event spaces at a long-term client, an international blue-chip financial organisation in London.

As part of the L2 team, you will identify and resolve technical faults across a wide range of video conferencing and AV equipment. You will configure devices, help with office relocations, support users at other office locations remotely and take on tasks assigned by the Lead Break-fix Technician or management.

The role is highly visible. You will sometimes work directly with executive management and managing directors.

Key responsibilities

• Respond directly to notifications of AV technical issues
• Investigate video and audio conferencing faults and recommend fixes
• Replace components, wires and faulty parts to restore system functionality
• Fully test room AV functions with all sources after troubleshooting and during annual preventative maintenance (PM)
• Carry out regular preventative room checks in line with the room check procedure
• Keep all multimedia and presentation rooms in good working order
• Set up and support video and audio conferences
• Certify all new and relocated video conferencing systems on site
• Run pre-event testing, including audio and wireless microphone battery levels
• Liaise with the client on large events and attend pre-production meetings
• Act as primary support for global production events and own the experience for hosts and attendees
• Support multimedia broadcasting

Requirements

• Proven AV technical support experience, ideally in a corporate environment
• Good knowledge of signal flow in video, audio and control wiring
• Knowledge of Cisco video conferencing systems
• Strong ability to operate and troubleshoot AV control systems, such as Crestron
• Able to load compiled code onto control processors and touch panels
• Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills with AV equipment
• Able to read as-built drawings and use them to diagnose reported problems
• Able to recognise and describe audio and video signal degradation
• Maintenance experience with LCD and DLP projectors
• Able to improvise workarounds on AV set-ups to meet requirements
• Good communication with vendors, colleagues and managers

Nice to have

• Knowledge of Microsoft Teams, Microsoft Teams Rooms and Surface Hubs
• Some AV installation skills
