Senior Mainframe Automation Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Senior Mainframe Automation Engineer to join a global infrastructure team. The role focuses on leading mainframe automation migration projects, optimizing operational processes, and ensuring high availability within complex z/OS environments.

Project scope:

Lead migration projects from CA OPS/MVS to Tivoli Systems Automation for z/OS and from CA Automation Point to Systems Automation for Integrated Operations Management (SAIOM)

Configure and implement policy-based automation solutions within z/OS environments

• Develop and maintain automation rules, REXX execs, and System Automation Policy Database (PDB) configurations
• Provide installation, configuration, and technical support for automation products
• Collaborate with operations teams to optimize system startup, shutdown, and recovery processes
• Ensure high availability and operational efficiency through proactive automation strategies
• Prepare and maintain technical documentation, including configurations, migration procedures, and operational guidelines
• Troubleshoot and resolve automation-related issues in production environments
• Work closely with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to deliver reliable automation solutions
• Requirements:

Minimum 5 years of experience in a mainframe operations environment in operational, support, consultancy, or service roles

• Advanced knowledge and hands-on experience with Tivoli Systems Automation for z/OS
• Strong experience with TSO and ISPF for system management and administration
• Good knowledge of JCL (Job Control Language)

Practical experience in REXX programming and script maintenance

Working knowledge of System Automation Policy Database (PDB)

Proven experience delivering z/OS automation migration projects

Hands-on experience with NetView for z/OS
