(Senior) Data Analyst, AI & Business Intelligence (m/f/d)

Introduction

The AL Group is a fifth-generation family-owned and globally operating shipping group with offices in Hamburg, Singapore, and Manila. We conduct our business based on responsibility, respect, adaptability, and humility. Our fleet currently consists of approximately 50 vessels, including container ships, bulk carriers, product tankers, and car carriers.

To strengthen our Group-wide data and digital capabilities, we are looking for an analytical, technology-driven professional on a full-time basis. The role will focus on data analytics, business intelligence, AI implementation and process automation across the organisation. Finance & Controlling will be an important area of responsibility, while the position will also support Shipping, Operations, HR, Administration and other Group functions. The position is envisaged to report to the Groups Finance Director while carrying a Group-wide mandate.

Tasks

• Identify and implement data, AI and automation opportunities across the Group
• Drive data quality, master data governance, and consistent data structures across the Group
• Design, implement, and maintain dashboards and business intelligence solutions (such as Power BI)
• Extract, consolidate, analyse, and validate data from ERP systems and operational databases
• Develop AI-supported workflows and interfaces to automate reporting, forecasting, analytics, and decision support
• Analyse existing workflows and implement practical process improvements across departments
• Support budgeting, forecasting, business planning, and selected financial analyses
• Drive the adoption of Microsoft Copilot and other suitable AI tools, including user support and training
• Act as a key interface for implementation between Finance, Accounting, Shipmanagement, IT, and other business functions
• Coordinate Group-wide data, automation, and AI implementation projects

Profile

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Business Analytics, Information Systems, Data Science, Computer Science, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field
• Relevant experience in Data Analytics, Business Intelligence, Digital Transformation, Consulting, or a comparable field
• Strong knowledge of Power BI, SQL, data modelling, and analytics tools
• Experience with ERP systems, large data sets, system integration, or process automation
• Knowledge of Microsoft Power Platform, Copilot, Python, or other AI tools
• Strong analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving capabilities combined with commercial understanding
• Structured, independent, and hands-on working style with the ability to drive cross-functional projects
• Strong communication skills and the ability to translate technical topics into practical business solutions
• Excellent English language skills; German skills and experience in shipping or other asset-intensive industries are advantageous
