Remote Junior/Mid SQL Server Admin

Along with dynamic company development, we are looking for talented and experienced Junior / Mid SQL Server Administrator.

Fully remote. 25+ years of experience on the Polish market for the American biggest children's apparel company since the 1940s.

Self-motivated and team player. Long term contract only.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Database Administration

Install, configure, upgrade, and maintain Microsoft SQL Server environments.

Manage database creation, configuration, and lifecycle.

Configure and maintain SQL Server instances across development, testing, and production environments.

Monitor database health, storage utilization, and capacity planning.

Maintain database standards, naming conventions, and documentation.

Performance Tuning

Monitor and optimize SQL Server performance.

Analyze slow-running queries and recommend improvements.

Optimize indexes, statistics, execution plans, and database configurations.

Work with development teams to improve SQL code efficiency.

Identify and resolve blocking, deadlocks, and performance bottlenecks.

High Availability & Disaster Recovery

Implement and maintain SQL Server Always On Availability Groups, Failover Clustering, Log Shipping, Replication, and Backup/Restore strategies.

Perform regular backup validation and disaster recovery testing.

Develop and maintain disaster recovery documentation and recovery procedures.

Ensure business continuity objectives (RPO/RTO) are met.

Security & Compliance

Implement database security best practices.

Manage user access, permissions, and role-based security.

Configure encryption, auditing, and security monitoring.

Support compliance with corporate security policies and regulatory requirements.

Perform periodic security reviews and vulnerability remediation.

Monitoring & Maintenance

Configure automated monitoring and alerting.

Perform database integrity checks and maintenance plans.

Manage patching, cumulative updates, and SQL Server version upgrades.

Monitor SQL Server Agent jobs and resolve failures.

Ensure backup jobs complete successfully.

Automation

Develop PowerShell, T-SQL, or other automation scripts.

Automate routine administrative tasks.

Improve operational efficiency through scripting and standardized procedures.

Development Support

Assist developers with database design and optimization.

Review stored procedures, views, triggers, and SQL code.

Participate in database deployments and release management.

Support CI/CD database deployment processes.

Documentation

Maintain operational procedures.

Document database configurations.

Maintain recovery procedures.

Create architecture diagrams and runbooks.

Document performance tuning recommendations.

Collaboration

Work closely with Infrastructure, Networking, Security, and Application Development teams.

Participate in project planning and architecture reviews.

Provide on-call support for critical production systems when required.

Hire process: get to know meeting in Polish followed by a second one, technical oriented within 2 weeks period. Brief English conversation is possible in order to estimate the skills.
