Position overviewWe are looking for an Observability Engineer with strong experience in OpenTelemetry and Python development to contribute to a cloud based telemetry platform. You will help design and implement observability solutions, extend telemetry capabilities, and build scalable SDK components that enable visibility into application performance and behavior.
Responsibilities
- Develop and enhance Python SDK libraries for telemetry collection and observability solutions
- Design and maintain AWS Distro for OpenTelemetry collector configurations, including pipelines, processors, and exporters
- Implement OpenTelemetry SDK extension patterns for custom metrics, custom spans, and configurable telemetry
- Build and optimize export pipelines for AWS CloudWatch Metrics and AWS X RayCreate and maintain YAML driven telemetry configuration schemas
- Collaborate with engineering teams to define observability requirements and telemetry standards
- Contribute to technical design discussions and platform improvements
- Support testing, troubleshooting, and performance optimization activitiesRequirements3+ years of experience in observability engineering, platform engineering, or a related area
- Experience designing and implementing ADOT or OpenTelemetry collector pipelines
- Experience developing Python SDKs, libraries, or reusable software components
- Experience with AWS CloudWatch Metrics and AWS X Ray integrations
- Experience working with YAML based configuration management
- Understanding of observability concepts including metrics, traces, and telemetry pipelines
- Experience working with source control systems and collaborative development practices
