As Cloud Operations Manager, you'll develop the processes, standards and technical capability that enable HSBC applications on Google Cloud Platform (GCP), AWS and Microsoft Azure to consume cloud service provider (CSP) services in a secure, resilient, scalable and efficient way.
You'll make sure our automation and workload-reduction efforts deliver meaningful impact while meeting all relevant HSBC security and risk standards. Reporting to the Head of Cloud Operations, you'll lead and be accountable for a globally distributed, multi-skilled team of DevOps engineers, including all aspects of people management.
You'll work in close partnership with:
Service Management — to maintain a robust support process
- Cloud Product Management — to create a continuous feedback loop for customer requirements
- Security and Operational Compliance leads — to ensure the platform meets the appropriate security and risk standards
- Cloud Technical Architects — to align on key design decisions, strategy and architecture
- What you'll doManage direct reports, including role definition, hiring, objective setting, performance reviews and ratings
- Define and refine the scope of support provided by the Cloud Operations teamOwn management reporting against KPIs and SLAs, and track progress against key initiatives to enable data-driven, continuous improvementOwn and manage escalations
- Train and develop a globally distributed, highly technical team
- Ensure all non-functional and Business Continuity Planning (BCP) requirements for the platform meet business needs
- Ensure the cloud platforms meet the operational risk framework to manage business risk
- Ensure all relevant architecture governance, policy and standards are metRepresent the platform teams in discussions with internal IT partners and Google, AWS and Azure
- Maintain internal engineering knowledge bases and records of key implementation decisions
- Gather requirements and provide continuous feedback loops between customers and Operations teamsWhat you'll bringWe're looking for someone who has:
Worked as an Operations Manager in an enterprise organisation
- Managed teams of at least 10 people
- Demonstrable knowledge of Non-Functional Requirements
- Demonstrable CSP experience across infrastructure build and configuration of a variety of services, including Compute, Containers, Container OS and Container orchestration (e.g. Docker, COS, GKE), Storage, IAM and SDN (VPC and XPN)
Experience of Continuous Integration (CI), Continuous Delivery (CD) and continuous testing techniques and toolsAn understanding of physical and software-defined networksAn understanding of Identity and Access Management principles and toolsAn understanding of role-based access controls and organisational hierarchiesAn understanding of operating systemsAn understanding of container technologies
- Experience working in a global, cross-functional service management team
- Experience dealing with multiple support groups in a supply chain
- Experience in an enterprise Financial Services companyA strong customer and stakeholder focus, with the ability to build strong relationships with application teams and cross-functional, global and local IT teams
