Intro

Back problems are the most common cause of work incapacity in Germany.

Vivira has the solution: We provide digital movement therapy via an app. Always available, simple, effective, and reimbursed by health insurance. Vivira was born from the need to treat musculoskeletal conditions as simply and effectively as possible.

Your responsibilities include

As Chief Product Officer, you take overall responsibility for Product Management, Tech/Software Engineering, and Business Intelligence. You report directly to the CEO and are a member of the Core Leadership Team. The role is deliberately technical: We are looking for a CPO who combines product leadership with a deep understanding of tech architecture and software engineering, and who applies AI where it creates tangible value for patients, the product, or the engineering organization.

You strategically develop the Product and Tech organization, establishing clear responsibilities, reliable decision-making processes, and a way of working that combines high quality with speed.

You also play a key role in driving the strategic evolution of our current and future portfolio. Product decisions cannot be separated from technology decisions. You don't need to write code every day – but you should be able to discuss architectural decisions with experienced engineering leaders, assess technical risks, and make sound decisions.

AI is part of your responsibility: in the product, where AI should contribute to personalization, adherence, and medical outcomes, as well as in the engineering organization, where AI should measurably improve the software development lifecycle. We operate within the regulatory framework of a medical device – what matters is not the number of experiments, but whether they result in robust, production-readyapplications with tangible value.

What you should bring

  • This position is aimed at experienced leaders who have already led and transformed product and technology organizations.
  • You bring several years of leadership experience in complex product and tech organizations. Ideally, you have realigned structures, developed leadership teams, or guided an organization through a phase of increased demands for delivery and accountability.
  • Your technical foundation is strong. Topics such as software architecture, technical debt, modernization, migration, software delivery, and engineering productivity are familiar to you from your own experience. Even experienced senior engineers and engineering leaders see you as a credible technical counterpart.
  • In AI, we are also looking for practical experience and sound judgment. You should have identified and evaluated AI potential and ideally have already implemented applications or AI-supported processes in production. Equally important is the ability to distinguish a meaningful use case from short-lived hype.
  • Experience in healthcare, digital health, medtech, or a comparable regulated software environment is a strong plus. Direct DiGA experience is a strong plus. You have a good understanding of the German healthcare system. You are fluent in both German and English.
  • What we also expect: a solid track record – concrete situations in which you took responsibility, made difficult decisions, and achieved verifiable results.
  • We also expect a company-wide perspective: Product and Engineering are your areas of responsibility, but your decisions regularly affect Vivira as a whole.
