About the role

Software Asset Management (SAM) Expert will be focused on assuring Tech license compliance. The role is an advisory role for software licensing for all internal users, helping Businesses to make decisions on license models when purchasing new software. The role also leads audits held by external audit bodies and Software Publishers. The role cooperates closely with Procurement, Legal and Software Publisher Owners ensuring Haleon owns appropriate licenses, purchased for the best value and that they are used by users according to agreed and signed contracts.

The role will assist in the development and implementation of continuous improvement initiatives to run SAM service at optimal levels of assets. The SAM Expert will be responsible for designing metrics and sharing reporting that reflects the ongoing portfolio of work and purchased licenses. Key responsibilities

Software License Compliance & Effective License Position: Own Effective License Positions (ELPs) for key publishers, ensuring software usage and entitlements remain aligned to minimise compliance, audit, and financial risk.

Software Lifecycle Management: Govern the end-to-end software asset lifecycle, from demand and deployment to usage monitoring, reallocation, and decommissioning, ensuring control, compliance, and efficiency.

Audit Readiness & External Audit Support: Lead audit readiness and vendor audit responses, driving remediation of compliance gaps and control weaknesses to reduce financial and reputational risk.

Vendor, Contract & Entitlement Management: Provide expert guidance on licensing terms, entitlements, contracts, and renewals to support commercial decisions and reduce compliance and cost risk.

SAM Process Governance & Continuous Improvement: Maintain and improve SAM processes, controls, procedures, and KRIs to strengthen governance, service maturity, and operational performance.

Stakeholder Collaboration & Risk Mitigation: Partner with business and Digital & Technology teams to address non-compliant software usage and ensure licensing risks are identified, escalated, and mitigated.

SAM Tooling & Automation Support: Support the optimisation of SAM/ITAM tools and contribute to automation that improves data quality, controls, efficiency, and scalability.

Data Analysis, Reporting & Cost Optimization: Analyse software and entitlement data to produce reporting, identify optimisation opportunities, and support cost rationalisation and decision-making.

Your profile

• Required qualifications:3+ years of experience in IT Asset Management or Software Asset Management, including audit experience
• Understanding of Software Asset Management processes, Audit and Information Security, and Risk Management principles
• Understanding of business area strategic goals, processes, and workflows
• Ability to make appropriate technical decisions and initiate actions to resolve operational issues
• Experience working with SAM and discovery tools such as ServiceNow, Flexera, or Snow License Manager
• PreferredSAM or ITAM certifications (e.g., CSAM, CITAM) and/or Audit or Information Security certifications (e.g., M.

Inst.

ISP, CISM, CISSP, CISA, or equivalent)

Knowledge of licensing models, terms, and conditions for vendors such as Microsoft, Oracle, IBM, SAP, and Adobe

Understanding of service management and process improvement methodologies
