First Hire at an Early-Stage Startup — Business & Growth

The product is already taking shape, the initial stage is funded, and I’ve started conversations with a Singapore-based investment fund about what could come next.

Now I’m looking for the first person to join me.

My background is mainly in product and technology. I’m looking for someone who will help shape the product with me, while taking more ownership of the business side — finding users, marketing, sales, communication and figuring out how to turn an early product into a company.

What you’ll work onYou may get involved in areas such as:

Users and marketing: talking to early users, outreach, social media and experimenting with ways to reach the right people

• Writing and communication: website copy, posts, announcements and explaining what we’re building
• Business: research, partnerships, early sales experiments and exploring how RemDo could become a sustainable business
• Product: using RemDo, questioning assumptions, talking to users and contributing to product decisions
• Other early-stage work: occasional research, coordination and useful things that come up while building a company
• The balance will depend on what you’re good at, what you enjoy and what the company needs at the time.

Who I’m looking for

You might be finishing university, have recently graduated, or already have your first bit of professional experience. Years of experience matter much less to me than initiative, curiosity and willingness to take responsibility.

Maybe you:wrote for your university newspaper or ran its social mediaorganized a meetup, event or student groupentered a competition or hackathonbuilt a side projectsaw something that needed doing and simply did itIf none of those describe you exactly, that’s fine. Show me your equivalent.

I’ll probably be especially interested if you enjoy communicating ideas, act while others still hesitate, and have ambitions slightly disproportionate to what is currently on your CV.

What you get

You’ll be joining at the point where a product starts becoming a company — before there are departments, procedures or layers of management.

This is a paid role. The work is paid weekly, hours are flexible, and partially remote work is possible.

You’ll work directly with me, have real influence over both the product and how the company develops, and see an international product and company being built from an early stage.

If things work well, I’m very open to this becoming a much longer-term relationship as RemDo grows.
