Architect

For one of our business partners, we are looking for a Architect (m/f/n) to support a project delivered for a European Union institution based in Brussels.

The project concerns the re-engineering, development, evolutionary maintenance, and support of the eExperts platform.

The scope of the project primarily includes:

ECS Back Office

• Compass workflowsECS Front Office
• MyExpert
• Area components
• Funding and Tenders Portal integration
• Meeting Attendance Registration System (MARS)eGrants Next Generation
• Changes resulting from the new Multiannual Financial Framework (MFF)

Migration of the ASAP workflow to Compass Corporate

• Migration of workflows from the Activity workflow engine to Camunda
• Integrations with SEP, Sygma, PMON, SUMMA, ERIS/ARES, Secunda, IAM, eGDR, and EXPAIR
• Migration to a new GitLab-based delivery pipeline
• Remediation of issues identified through security vulnerability scanning
• Requirements
• Minimum education: 5 years of higher education (university studies)

Minimum ICT experience: 3 years

• Minimum experience relevant to the profile: 3 years
• Expertise in ECS architecture, Compass workflows, and Funding & Tenders Portal integration
• Experience in business analysis and requirements modeling in accordance with BABOK and IEEE 29148, including user stories, use cases, acceptance criteria, state diagrams, class diagrams, and entity-relationship models
• Knowledge of process modeling techniques, including BPMN and flowcharts, as well as IT modeling using UML or similar modeling techniques
• Experience in stakeholder management, workshop facilitation, requirements elicitation, analysis, specification, validation, and alignment between business and IT teams
• Experience with complex web applications, back-office systems, workflows, and highly integrated applications
• Knowledge of software development methodologies and governance frameworks, including Agile, PM²Agile, Scrum, SAFe, Waterfall, RUP, and ITIL
• Experience using Jira, Confluence, Share
• Point, and GitLab for creating, prioritizing, and tracking user stories, epics, and backlogs
• Experience with system integrations, including application integration through automated APIs and structured manual data imports
• Knowledge of large-scale enterprise IT environments, information systems architecture, and the application lifecycle
• Familiarity with European Commission compliance requirements, including eIDAS for digital signatures and financial compliance
• Knowledge of publicly available information regarding Horizon Europe activities for evaluators and monitors, as well as call-for-expression-of-interest procedures for experts, will be considered an asset

• Support the migration of the ASAP workflow to Compass Corporate
• Support the migration of seven workflows from the Activity workflow engine to Camunda
• Support the decomposition of the existing monolithic eExperts platform into a more modular architecture based on decoupled service components
• Support the integration of the platform with cloud architecture, including Container-as-a-Service (CaaS)

Support the implementation of a technical notification management system based on Kafka or a similar messaging platform

• Prepare requirements specifications and analyses, feature descriptions, user stories, and acceptance criteria
• Prepare solution designs, including Architectural Decision Records (ADRs) and requirements specifications
• Produce textual and visual software design documentation, including interface and API specifications
• Perform impact analysis and dependency analysis for changes and enhancements, including integration mapping updates
• Participate in PI Planning, Sprint Planning, Daily Stand-ups, Sprint Reviews, and Retrospectives
• Support technical refinement activities and prepare refined Jira stories and technical implementation plans
• Participate in sprint demonstrations and component validation
• Support risk and issue management, technical coordination, architecture synchronization meetings, and stakeholder alignment
• Prepare and maintain functional and technical documentation in repositories such as Confluence and Share
