What you will do

State-of-the-art Java development! Microservices in AWS with a DevOps culture, cross-functional Scrum teams, an international environment, open communication, and a culture of feedback and learning from mistakes. Responsibility for architecture, technology choices, QA, security, and operations within your team. All this and much more at one of Europe's largest DIY retailers.

• You will design and implement highly available & scalable backend components for our payment services within the transactional platform using Java, Spring Boot, Apache Kafka, and AWS.
• You will support the product development process in your team from the initial idea through implementation to continuous operation, in constant exchange with your Product Owner.
• Together with your team, you will have the end-to-end responsibility for the systems developed by the team. This includes not only architecture & development but also technology selection, QA, security, DevOps with continuous deployment, as well as operations with monitoring and alerting as essential tasks for you and your team.
• You enjoy close collaboration in a cross-functional Scrum team with pair programming and code reviews, and you proactively share your knowledge and experience.

Requirements

• Successfully completed a degree in computer science, mathematics, physics, or a comparable field of study
• Several years of professional experience in the backend development of web-based, scalable systems and applications.
• In-depth knowledge of Java, Spring Boot, and AWS as well as SQL-based databases, e.g. PostgreSQL.
• Experience in the development, deployment, and operation of distributed systems, and you are familiar with technologies such as Docker, Kafka, and Terraform.
• Extensive experience in e-commerce, especially with payment processes like authorizations, captures, refunds or have integrated payment providers like Adyen, Stripe, Paypal.
• High degree of quality awareness, meaning that in addition to unit and integration tests, you are comfortable with static code analysis and performance tests, enabling a culture of continuous deployment within the team.
• Thinking outside the box and, beyond pure backend development/architecture, you are also interested in other areas (e.g., frontend, DevOps, security, process optimization, ...), you actively pursue further training in these fi elds and contribute your knowledge to the team.
• Fluent communication skills in English and Polish.
• Openness to hybrid work and regular visits in Katowice office.
