The role focuses on applied experiments with embeddings, product description classification, and mapping retail data to economic taxonomies (COICOP), aligned with ECB standards. You will collaborate with macroeconomists and policy experts, with outcomes contributing to research publications and policy insights.Responsibilities Research and test NLP/LLM methods for classification and embeddings Map consumer product data to economic taxonomies (e.g. COICOP) Run multilingual model experiments and evaluate robustness/interpretability Collaborate with economists to translate results into actionable insights RequirementsMust-haves: MSc/PhD in Data Science, Economics, ML, Computational Linguistics, or related field 4+ years’ experience in NLP, LLMs (BERT/GPT), and embeddings Experience in empirical economics or high-frequency data analysis Strong Python skills (PyTorch/TensorFlow, Hugging Face) Excellent research and analytical skills Very good command of written and spoken English (C1) is required.
