What you will do

You will join Team Digital Advice within the Sales Rep Tool (SRT) product group, the central gateway between OBI stores and the OBI ecosystem. The SRT is used daily in hundreds of stores across Europe to support store employees along the sales journey, from capturing customer leads and planning projects to managing orders and steering sales performance.

Your responsibilities include:

• Design, develop, and maintain backend services in Kotlin with Spring Boot
• Build and consume REST APIs and event-driven services using Kafka
• Work with PostgreSQL and MongoDB for data storage and retrieval
• Deploy and operate services in AWS within a cloud-native environment
• Collaborate with multiple teams, as Digital Advice has many integration points across the SRT platform
• Participate in Scrum ceremonies, sprint planning, and cross-team coordination
• Contribute to a team culture that values humor, code quality, pair programming, and team spirit, with cameras on in meetings
• Maintain high code quality through automated testing, CI/CD, and peer reviews

Requirements

• Successfully completed a degree in computer science, mathematics, physics, or a comparable field of study
• 4+ years of experience in backend development with Kotlin or Java (willingness to work in Kotlin required)
• Proficiency in Spring Boot and working with PostgreSQL
• Experience in microservice architectures and Domain-Driven Design (DDD)
• Hands-on experience with REST APIs, Kafka, and event-driven systems
• Familiarity with AWS, Terraform/Open Tofu and CI/CD pipelines
• Agile mindset with experience in Scrum teams
• Strong communication skills for cross-team collaboration
• Fluent communication skills in English and Polish
• Bonus: basic German skills and/or experience with retail or sales tools
• Openness to hybrid work and regular visits in Katowice office.
