Requirements description

What we are looking for

  • 10+ years of professional software engineering experience with enterprise applications backed with RDBMS databases or Snowflake
  • 10+ years of experience as a Database Architect or in a similar role supporting enterprise applications
  • Extensive hands-on experience in RDBMS and distributed data platforms as a database developer
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to troubleshoot and resolve database related issues
  • Proficiency in SQL performance tuning in MS SQL Server, Oracle, or Snowflake
  • Strong track record of building high performance, production quality software on schedule
  • Ability to work independently, handle multiple tasks simultaneously and adapt quickly to changes
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders

Nice To have

  • Expert experience with hardware sizing and configuration, operating systems, scripting, and database technologies
  • Experience in NoSQL databases is preferred
  • Experience with cloud database services such as Azure SQL Database or AWS RDS is a plus
  • A minimum of 7 years working with an Agile development methodology strongly desired
  • Experience with developing applications for the financial markets is a plus (Fixed Income, Trading, FX, Risk, Portfolio/Wealth Management, Market Data, FIX, etc.

Recommended Education:

  • B.S. degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, and Physics or other technical course of study required. MS degree strongly preferred.

Summary:

Join us as a leading technical contributor to the enhancement and maintenance of one or more Charles River IMS modules or components of an agile scrum team. Be a part of strategic development projects and contribute to mission-critical optimization, resiliency, and performance improvement work for our clients. Collaborate with engineering, product, QA and sales teams to drive the platform innovation and modernization.

This job is a hybrid role with at 3 days in the office per week , which you can perform from our offices in Krakow and Gdansk.

Your responsibilities

  1. Design and implement scalable, performant and highly available distributed database solutions
  2. Collaborate with peers across scrum teams to design and deliver database design conforming to database best practices and meet business and application requirements
  3. Create and maintain comprehensive documentation of database design, data models, configurations, and processes
  4. Write complex SQL queries, stored procedures, and script to support application development
  5. Optimize performance through indexing, SQL query optimization, and other database tuning techniques
  6. Monitor database performance metrics, analyze and identify bottlenecks, and recommend short-term and long-term solutions
