About the project

• The Foundation Engineering Platform, PaaS team provides products and services that strive to improve the efficiency of HSBC. Our goal is to help HSBC teams deliver cost-effective journeys securely, provide complete development platforms and tools. Our attention to detail needs to be excellent as should our ability to assess ‘the bigger picture’. We are looking for an accomplished Senior Software Engineer to contribute to these goals.
• The role is a hands-on development role foremost, delivering security services and libraries to address recognised cross cutting capabilities. Their contributions are expected to exemplify the high standards we help define.

Your responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain cloud-based applications using Java and associated frameworks (e.g., Spring, Spring Boot).
• Review solutions for alignment with the stated goals of Foundation Engineering.
• Advocate for and meet high professional standards of development primarily in Java.
• Deliver appropriate and comprehensive tests as part of every deliverable.
• Approach technical challenges with an open collaborative mindset.
• Take initiative to improve the developer experience and efficiency.

Our requirements

• Good written and verbal communications skills, very good English.
• Able to articulate a clear understanding of event-driven architecture patterns.
• A strong grasp of functional, non-blocking, asynchronous code.
• Security software related experience is desired.
• Hands on experience with AWS.
• Performance testing knowledge is a bonus.
• Prior experience of Istio, Kubernetes is desirable but not essential.
• Experience securing APIs at scale would be beneficial.
