Employer: Klarna

Location: Warsaw (hybrid work: 2-3 days in the office)

Rate: 220 - 255 PLN per hour

Cooperation model: B2B or Employment Contract

Start date: ASAP

Duration: long-term agreement

Recruitment process: 1 timed Abstract and Logical Reasoning Test (up to 15 minutes); 1 short interview (up to 30 minutes)

Your role is:

-> To work on specific problem spaces critical to Klarna's needs, with opportunities to switch teams as both you and our fast-paced business evolve;

-> To lead the design, development, and maintenance of Java-based backend services, ensuring high performance, reliability, and scalability;

-> To utilize cloud technologies, primarily AWS, to develop and deploy services;

-> To engage in the full project lifecycle—from conception to deployment and beyond, ensuring projects are delivered on time and to specifications;

-> To collaborate with cross-functional teams across Klarna to align on integration strategies and optimize system architecture;

-> To drive an engineering culture within the team, emphasizing innovation, quality, and continuous improvement;

-> To proactively identify and mitigate potential issues in our distributed and financial systems;

-> To work in small autonomous teams with short release cycles.

Your skills and experiences:

-> Proficient with Java and Spring Boot, with hands-on experience in backend development;

-> Expert with PostgreSQL and architecting and building robust systems;

-> Skilled with cloud technologies, especially AWS;

-> Adept in distributed and financial systems, capable of anticipating and mitigating issues preemptively;

-> Independent, able to manage projects end-to-end and lead people effectively;

-> A strong communicator, capable of interfacing with other teams and domains;

-> Previously led a team, with a track record of building positive engineering cultures;

-> Strong educational background in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field;

-> Working proficiency and communication skills in verbal and written English.

Nice to have:

+ Familiarity with JavaScript and Node.js;

+ Experience in leading a diverse team of engineers across multiple locations;

+ A visionary approach to anticipating the future needs of the team and the position.
