Engineering Manager (Biometric Solutions)

Veriff is seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead the Biometric Solutions team, which is driving the company's transition from one-time identity checks to continuous biometric authentication. This team develops the intelligence and infrastructure for real-time biometric and liveness verification, forming the core of Veriff's trust platform.

The role involves leading a high-performing team working across computer vision, machine learning, user experience, and regulatory requirements. In close collaboration with product, ML platform, fraud prevention, and legal teams, the manager will ensure Veriff remains secure, responsive, and future-proof against sophisticated virtual identity threats.

Responsibilities:

• Lead, grow, and develop a high-performing engineering team responsible for core biometric infrastructure, including authentication and liveness detection.
• Define the team’s structure and evolution as it scales, implementing clear processes and scalable execution practices.
• Own the end-to-end delivery of biometric products, from model training to SDK integrations and user experience, ensuring performance, scalability, and regulatory compliance.
• Partner with product leadership to define and execute strategy, influencing roadmap, technical architecture, and go-to-market readiness.
• Drive initiatives to bring core biometric intellectual property in-house, reducing third-party dependencies and increasing control over performance and innovation.
• Ensure operational excellence, observability, and robustness across all systems owned by the team.
• Build a team culture centered on trust, technical curiosity, and high-quality execution.
• Contribute to Veriff’s global security posture by future-proofing defenses against spoofing, deepfakes, and generative AI attacks.
• Mentor engineers and engineering leads, providing feedback and support for long-term growth.

Qualifications:

• Technical leadership experience in machine learning, computer vision, or platform engineering, with a passion for solving real-world identity and trust challenges.
• Experience building or leading teams responsible for end-to-end products, integrating backend systems, model deployment, and customer-facing integrations (e.g., SDKs).
• Comfort in high-growth environments and experience designing scalable systems.
• Strong ability to balance technical depth with people leadership.
• Proven ability to navigate ambiguity and define structure while keeping the team focused and motivated.
• Experience working in a regulated domain, collaborating with legal and compliance teams.

Especially Awesome If You Have:

• Experience leading teams in biometrics, computer vision, or applied machine learning, particularly in authentication, anti-spoofing, or user verification.
• Familiarity with ML development frameworks and embedding-based architectures in production.
• Exposure to regulated domains (e.g., identity verification, fintech, healthcare) and understanding of data privacy principles.
• Proven ability to integrate ML systems into real-time user experiences, including on-device or SDK-based inference.
• Experience partnering with ML platform teams for efficient model deployment and monitoring.
• Strong systems thinking and architectural skills.
